June 13 - On a beautiful Sunday morning, the Odyssey Launch Platform sets sail for the launch site on the Equator, carrying members of the launch team and marine crew, supplies, and its precious cargo - the Zenit-3SL launch vehicle with the Telstar 18 satellite. Jamie Njavro, assistant pier master (driving forklift), brings in the access ramp from the starboard pontoon of the Launch Platform, just before the lines are taken in. |
With all lines in, the Odyssey inches away from the pier... |
...the traditional departure music fills the air and Russian and Ukrainian flags appear from the deck. |
Teammates bid farewell from the end of the pier... |
...and she's off! |
