Mission Overview
Toward the end of the operation of the second stage, an anomaly occurred prior to reaching orbital velocity. The ICO spacecraft did not reach orbit. Investigation revealed off-nominal operation of the second stage propulsion system. All other systems performed as expected during the March 12, 2000 launch.
On the third mission, a Sea Launch Zenit-3SL was to lift a Hughes-built HS-601 communications satellite into Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) for ICO Global Communications.
