Launch Control Center
The launch control center is located on the shelter deck of the Sea Launch Commander. During all phases of launch vehicle processing and flight, the launch control center management has the ultimate responsibility and authority for all decisions and commands affecting the integrated launch vehicle. Internal communications on both the Sea Launch Commander and the Launch Platform Odyssey include closed circuit television, telephone, intercom, public address, data communications and computing systems, a line-of-sight system, a countdown clock system and a mission management display system.
Mission Operations consoles in the Launch Control Center (left) have special units of operations for English-speaking and Russian-speaking launch teams. Operations are managed in two-way translation services. All countdown launch, and telemetry and tracking data are observed and directed from this center.
